First of all, Bah Humbug to all ya’ll!
Second of all, as this year wraps up I’m preparing to go to school for 4-months or so depending on my level of success. So I most likely will not be updating as frequently as I would hope to. Which, if you’ve been following on Patreon you’ll know that I’ve only managed to get the back-end functionality for th P.O.G Tiers. So I’ll hopefully learn some new skill sets while I’m away. Meanwhile production on the book will continue, however it’ll just be a bit….harder…
Anyways if you haven’t been keeping up, I’m once again embattled in something stupid. The secondary market (ebay resells) I honestly didn’t have any problems or issues with, until they started selling Patreon covers there, and they shouldn’t have been. Also some twat posted the list of names that were receiving a certain variant. When requests to have the information removed fell on deaf ears, I did the one thing they didn’t expect; I tanked their market. I know a bunch of folks that disagree with this tactic, however the deal was: Covers will remain exclusive as long as they stay off of ebay. And I already see a number of “Patreon cover pre-orders.” Or some bullshit “investment copies for sell.” If you bought those, then you got scammed. While I don’t intend on printing any more than 500 copies of any one cover. Don’t think for a second I won’t actively undercut and tank the market value. Why? Principle. Also one of our rules upon joining up on Patreon was “don’t leak shit.” Which is an all encompassing statement meaning: Don’t fucking leak a goddamn thing.
Flip the retail version all day. We don’t care. But the Patreon stuff should’ve remained there. Or at least until the end of our run. That would’ve been the smart thing to do. Anyhoo. Kinda over being combative so moving forward any copy bought directly from me will have this extra page inserted:
For everyone that understands why I’m doing this, thanks again for your support. For those that don’t understand; the value of this book is NOT within how much money anyone can make from it. Its in the core moral of the story and I’d much rather put a book into the hands of someone who wants to read / collect. Than in the hands of someone who’s just looking to ride my coattails to make their next car payment.
Which kinda leads me into something I’ve been slowly realizing and the big reason why I’m probably gonna get out of the comics game. The face of comics is long overdue for an overhaul and the big two companies are failing at this. There’s a way to get your books out there, either through direct sales or with the help of a publisher. The cog that needs to be replaced is Diamond itself. I haven’t figured out a way to circumvent them, but if I do figure that out before we’re done…I’ll dump it here. There’s some things about the industry I simply refuse to accept, but like everything I won’t criticize something without at least bringing up an alternative. For instance, pirating. There’s 0 reason to pirate the work. I mean, its here on the website for free. And if you wanna buy it digitally, check us out on our store page we host both censored and uncensored there for digital sells.
Physical copies? Well retail, or Patreon (for now still looking for an alternative.) Can’t find it in stores? I will mail you whatever I have available at the time.
Anyway, I’ll see you guys in 4months. Wish me luck.
